3 apps that give you free stuff, money, and rewards in 2018

Let’s face it: apps save us time. There are apps for everything: some that mirror your wallet, allowing you to go cashless, some that lead us through our meditation routine and others that remind us of grocery lists, birthdays, and daily schedules that should really be memorized by now.

There are also apps out there that will give you money if you complete certain goals. There are even more apps that give you cool rewards and essentially free stuff!

Below, we’ll show you three popular apps floating around the internet for 2018. See if any are up your alley, and you could be on your way to earning rewards and redeeming them for cold hard cash.

Ritual

Ritual is an app that is used to order food from a wide range of restaurants that participate in the program. Some of your favourite local restaurants and coffee shops are using the application, and once your order is ready, you enter the establishment and find their Ritual pickup counter, then leave with your order hassle free.

If skipping the line isn’t enough, Ritual offers you points on every single order. These Ritual rewards points can be converted into daily deals or discounts (as little as 100 points) or converted into cash that you can use to buy your food!

They even have different rewards offers, for example: Earn up to 1,500 points every time you pick up orders for a group (who also use the app). If you order twice a week you unlock Elite Status which gives you even more points!

Starbucks Rewards

If you’re a frequent Starbucks drinker, this app is for you.

This service from Starbucks allows you to sign up, and collect rewards using a registered card or the Starbucks app. Rewards are calculated using stars. You can get 2 stars for every $1 spent, plus birthday rewards and free in-store refills. Stars can be redeemed for free drinks, but personally, I’m more interested in the free in-store refills.

PC Plus

PC Plus points can be redeemed at any store under the President’s Choice/Loblaws umbrella, including: Fortinos, Independent City Market, Loblaws, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, Valu-mart, Zehrs Markets, and more. Loblaws has recently acquired Shoppers Drug Mart too, making the opportunity for points increase if you frequent this pharmacy, while also allowing you to decide where to redeem your points.

The concept is simple: PC Plus will give you offers based on the things they know you already buy. Many times these offers will make your purchases lean towards President’s Choice products instead of the brand names they have noticed you buying. For example, instead of Heinz ketchup, you may get an offer for 1,000 points for every dollar spent on President’s Choice ketchup instead. Sometimes this is perfectly do-able, but it’s really up to you.

Once you reach the first points hurdle (20,000 points) you’re able to redeem those rewards points for $20 off your grocery bill. It adds up, especially if your local grocery store already falls under the Loblaws umbrella. After that initial hurdle, you’re able to redeem every 10,000 points you collect thereafter.

Use the app to check your offers before you start shopping so you can get the most out of your savings this year.
